Our Winemaking Team
David believes winemaking is about the details. David has been with us since 2004, after launching his winemaking career with Seavey Vineyard, with consulting winemaker Philippe Melka.
David has also assisted in the cellars of Grace Family Vineyard in St. Helena. David also makes his own wine as Kind Cellars using sourced fruit; he was recently awarded a 99 point score from Robert Parker Jr.
Mark brings us the most advanced winemaking practices, as a graduate of UC Davis with Bachelors Degrees in both Viticulture and Enology, where he received the department citation for outstanding achievement. From there, Mark worked several harvests throughout northern California, as well as harvests in Australia and the famous Stellenbosch growing region of South Africa. This diversity of harvests provided exposure to a broad range of winemaking techniques, which Mark now includes in his own winemaking process.
In addition to overseeing the day-to-day winemaking at O’Brien Estate, Mark makes his own wines under the Cobden Wini label, specializing in Pinot Noir.
Charley is the newest member of the O’Brien Estate winemaking team. Charley earned his Bachelor's Degree in Wine & Viticulture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Following college, Charley moved to Napa Valley to follow a passion of making Bordeaux varietals, working first in the cellar at Duckhorn Wine Company, then as Cellarmaster at Long Meadow Ranch Winery. He then joined the O'Brien Estate team just before the 2015 harvest.
Charley makes his own wines under the March Wines label, specializing in Riesling and Pinot Noir Rosé.
